Former UFC featherweight fighter, Dustin Poirier, will take his talents to the lightweight division after a four-plus year absence. Poirier will face-off with jiu-jitsu ace, Carlos Diego Ferreira, on April 4 at UFC Fight Night 63.

The 26-year-old Louisiana native has compiled an 8-3 Octagon record at 145 pounds, but it’s the steep weight cut that had Poirier thinking about his long-term health

Poirier has worked with well-known nutritionist, George Lockhart, for all of his weight-cuts at featherweight. The 32-year-old Lockhart is a former marine and mixed martial arts fighter, who’s worked with some of the best in the business like Jon Jones and new lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos.

As of the time this article was released, “The Diamond” was checking in at roughly 170 pounds each morning. Below is a detailed description of what a day of dieting entails for Poirier.
