M&F Lesson of the Day: True Champions Don't See Obstacles, Only Opportunities

Student athlete Nico Calabria proves that when the will is there, the results will follow.

Soccer is not everybody's cup of tea, but no matter what sport stirs your passion, this goal from Nico Calabria, a student at Concord-Carlisle High School in Concord, MA, should inspire you.

Calabria, 17, was born with only one leg, but if you think that has limited what he can and cannot do, then you would be very mistaken. In a recent interview with the Boston Herald he summarized his thoughts on life as follows:

“Basically I’ve lived my entire life knowing that I’m completely capable of anything,” he said. Shortly after this report, footage of this goal that he scored in a recent game became a hit on YouTube, and it is proof positive of how he applies that mantra to his life.

Do you know how hard it is to score a goal like this with two legs, never mind having the audacity and skill to execute this move on crutches? Bravo Nico, or as they say in Spain, Que Golazo!
