Gordon Ramsay got a bit of licking at a recent charity soccer game at Old Trafford in Manchester, England when a Teddy Sheringham hit resulted in the chef being shipped off to hospital in a stretcher.

The annual Soccer Aid game pitted England against the Rest of the World, and Ramsay, who had a tryout as a youth with professional team Glasgow Rangers before suffering a career-ending knee injury, was just about to control an English defensive clearance when Sheringham “tackled” him.

Sheringham, who enjoyed a long and successful professional career, decked the chef and then fell on top of him. After the collision, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United striker was not exactly shedding any tears as Ramsay lay prostrate on the ground.

While many chefs who have felt the sting of Ramsay’s tongue might be having a quiet chuckle, here’s hoping that the Scot was not too badly shaken up.

Hollywood stars Will Ferrell and Mike Myers played on Ramsay’s team, with Ed Norton and Woody Harrelson also on the ROTW roster.

The match itself ended in a 3-1 win for England, and the event reportedly raised over $6 million for UNICEF.
