Doing 50 pushups in a hour doesn’t seem like too much of a hard task, right?

How about 2,268 in an hour?

Brett Masserant did it, and just kept going—all the way to a world record.

Masserant, a 29-year-old from Michigan, cranked out 13,186 pushups in eight hours—that’s an average of 27 pushups every minute—which is enough to set a new world record once it’s certified by Guinness World Records.

Masserant’s astounding feat of endurance that capped a week of record-setting attempts by the native of Utica, Michigan. Masserant also went for the clap pullups record and the weighted pushups record, but fell short on both of those.

“I felt like I was going to die,” Brett Masserant told the Detroit Free Press after completing his eight-hour session. “The adrenaline was still there for about an hour after, and when I got home, I didn’t feel right, so I had one hand on the phone, ready to speed-dial 9-1-1. But everything was OK, and I woke up fine (the next morning). My elbow bothers me, but it’s not a huge residual soreness, because I’ve done this before for six or seven hours.”

Masserant had also planned to attempt the 12-hour pushup record, but he settled for the eight-hour record this time around.

“There’s obviously that 12 hours still out there for me to shoot for,” Masserant said. “There are pull-up records; there’s a lot out there to shoot for.”

One thing’s for sure—Masserant’s arms were obscenely sore after his record-breaking run.
