Hugh Jackman Rescues Swimmers from Riptide

The "X-Men" actor turned into a real-life hero to save kids from drowning.

The ripped X-Men star didn't plan on filming any heroics last weekend when he hit Sydney's Bondi Beach for some much needed R&R. That said, he sprung into action when some kids (including his teenage son Oscar) were caught in a riptide. Australia's Nine News caught the whole thing on film.

After helping to haul a couple of swimmers toward shore, Jackman stayed in the water to call out to swimmers who were still unaware of the danger. He wasn't the only hero that day. North Bondi posted about the incident on Instagram that day, noting an astonishing 43 rescues after riptides struck the crowded beach. Naturally, they gave Jackman a shoutout.

WELL DONE to Patrol 13 captained by Rosie Taliano & Tom Bunting this afternoon who completed 43 rescues in total with only a limited 12 patrolling members rostered on. There were also 3 rescues in the morning completed by Patrol 10. A big THANK YOU to Waverley Duty Officers, @brontesurfclub, @bondisblsc, @bondilifeguards and @surfrescue30 for your extra assistance. The beach had to be closed due to dangerous conditions, multiple rescues happening all at once and limited resources. @thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues!
