Earlier this year, Vin Diesel brought Xander Cage out of retirement after an almost 12-year hiatus for the epic third installment of the xXx franchise in xXx: Return of Xander Cageaka the one where Diesel literally rides a dirtbike on water.

Now it looks like fans will probably (if not yet definitively) have a fourth installment to look forward to, according to an announcement from production company H Collective given to Variety.

The Los Angeles-based production company revealed that it will financially back the untitled xXx sequel. “In today’s Hollywood, it requires strong partners to produce and finance such big-budget movies as the xXx series, and The H Collective is a welcome and exciting new company that we look forward to working with,” said Joe Roth, a producer of the xXx franchise.

This news shouldn’t really come as a surprise, though, considering the film grossed nearly $350 million worldwide (despite a relatively paltry take at the U.S. box office). Furthermore, Diesel himself expressed interest in doing a fourth film at the London premiere of Return of Xander Cage this past January.

Semi-official word appears to have also come from director D.J. Caruso, via his Twitter account. When a fan tweeted this Instagram post from xXx actress Ruby Rose and asked whether or not their would be a sequel, Caruso directly replied: “Yes meetings next week. Honing in on story and start dates.”

So even if Paramount has not yet officially announced production on xXx 4, the signs are promising that Cage will be returning to the big screen in the near future.

Check out Caruso’s tweet below—and start getting excited for the (probable) next return of Cage.
