Resilient Lifter Recovers From Disaster to Win Silver

Genesis Rodriguez Gomez's ability to rebound at Pan Am Games is impressive.

Incredibly Resilient Lifter Recovered From This Disaster to Win Silver

Disaster struck for Genesis Rodriguez Gomez at the Pan Am Games in Oshawa, Ontario, over the weekend when the athlete collapsed while attempting a clean and jerk of 233 pounds.

The Venezuelan athlete, who was competing in the 53kg class, was fortunate that she fell forward as the weights crashed behind here, but what happened after the lift was what we want to highlight in this post.

Instead of letting the mishap define her Pan Am Games, not only did the 20-year-old return to compete, she came back and nailed her second try at the 106 kg/233 pound weight.

THEN, she went on to make 109kg/240.3 pounds in her third and final attempt, bagging silver along the way. Genesis Rodriguez Gomez, more power to you, you are an inspiration.
