Sometimes identifying life’s red flags can be tough. Let’s make it simple. Anytime someone tells you, “Don’t worry, it’ll be OK, I did karate as a kid,” you should NOT do what they’re asking.

This week a Russian bodybuilder was critically stabbed by a party guest after claiming that his “knife-proof” abs couldn’t be penetrated. His name (thankfully for him) hasn’t been released, but the apply named SpotMeBro.com says disaster ensued after the host tried to show off his rusty martial arts skills.

”The owner of the home got a big kitchen knife and asked his guest to stab him in the stomach,” says the Russian Interior Ministry. “[The guest] refused at first, saying he was afraid he would kill the host. However, the host said that in his childhood he was involved in martial arts and the knife could not penetrate his abs.”

Naturally, that wasn’t the case. The punctured partygoer was rushed to the hospital. His friend, if convicted, could face up to eight years in prison. Let this be a lesson to us all: Knives, feats of fitness prowess, and what we assume to be large amounts of alcohol should never mix.
