Timeline: Mark Wahlberg

1988 – Spends 45 days in jail for attacking a man on the street. Upon his release, he decides to turn his life around and begins bodybuilding.

1994 – Lands his first big screen role alongside Danny DeVito in Renaissance Man. 

1997 – Earns critical acclaim for his role as porn star Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights.

2003 – Then girlfriend (now wife) Rhea Durham gives birth to the first of Wahlberg’s four children.

1999-2004 – Wahlberg stars in a string of box office successes, including Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, Planet of the Apes, and I Heart Huckabees.

2004 – Produces HBO’s Entourage, loosely based on Wahlberg’s experiences in Hollywood.

2007 – Nominated for an Oscar for best actor in a supporting role for The Departed (2006).

2011 – Nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor in a drama for his role in The Fighter (2010).

2013 – Wahlberg teams up with The Rock in Pain & Gain, and lands his first Muscle & Fitness cover.
