Teenage Powerlifter Dominic Swanson Breaks Five World Records at World Championships

Tip of the hat to Madhu Krishnamurthy and her colleagues at the Chicago Daily Herald for reporting on the brilliant performance of 15-year-old Dominic Swanson at the recent World Powerlifting Congress World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Swanson was competing in the 220-pound division for athletes in the 13-15 age bracket, and some of his numbers from the meet, which went on from October 26 to November 3, are staggering:

Individual Bench Press: 275 pounds (WR)

Bench Press as part of combined event: 265 pounds (WR)

Squat: 380 pounds (WR)

Deadlift: 418 pounds (WR)

Total weight: 1,083 pounds (WR)
