With a name like Geostorm, you probably already know what kind of movie to expect from Gerard Butler’s latest. And the trailer delivers.

Butler stars as Jake Lawson, the Climate Chief of the International Space Station in the near future where satellites control the Earth’s weather to prevent natural disasters. However, an usual malfunction eventually snowballs into pure chaos as the satellites cause catastrophic weather across the globe. Jake teams up with his younger brother Max (Jim Sturgess) to put an end to the disasters before it’s too late.

And the writer/director of Geostorm is no stranger to disaster films: Dean Devlin also wrote the 90’s popcorn classic Independence Day along with its sequel Resurgence.

Geostorm releases nationwide on October 20, 2017.
