There are several ways to waste time at the end of a soccer game if your team is in the lead. This is not one of them. Normally a team will try to retain possession or take the ball into the corner to burn out the last minute or two on the clock.
Well, Amherst College defender Emily Little decided to try and take the head off of her opponent from Colby during a recent New England Small College Athletic Conference quarter final game. Amherst were up 1-0 with 89 minutes gone, and they held on for the win, but Colby fans were livid with Little for her questionable play.
Now, while we always want to give athletes the benefit of the doubt, it would seem that Little was maybe settling a score. After the first throw she looks genuine in her reaction. Accidents happen and all that. However, on the second throw she just nails the same player again. After she receives the yellow card, she doesn't exactly rush over to see if the Colby player is okay.
It is not the first time there has been an accident at a throw in during a college game. Check this one out. Two things pop out, the thrower has got an incredible style and the guy who gets creamed shows what he is made of when he gets himself off the floor and puts himself straight back in the line of fire.
In fairness to No. 16, he does check on his fallen adversary. Maybe Emily Little could take a look at him for the proper etiquette after you floor a player with a throw, or two!
