The most electrifying man in sports entertainment history will don a new set of lightning-emblazed spandex in an upcoming DC Comics film. That’s right, finally, The Rock has come back to comic movies. Dwayne Johnson confirmed on Twitter this morning that he will take on the villain role of Black Adam in the forthcoming film adaptation of Shazam!. According to the AP, The Rock had the chance to play the hero (Captain Marvel) or the baddie, and he chose the latter. Variety is reporting that Darren Lemke will pen the script, but no production schedule has been confirmed. Johnson tweeted:

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen him turn heel on screen, 2001’s The Mummy Returns to be exact, but The Rock was always at his finest in the ring as a troublemaker. Johnson is currently busy promoting Hercules in Europe and Mexico, as well as on this month’s cover of Muscle & Fitness, and this latest casting news underscores his status as a Hollywood action icon.
