Relative unknown breaks into the powerlifting scene with humongous lifts.

Ray Williams Goes for Squat Record

Think it's tough to do an 800 lb. squat? Now imagine knocking out 5 reps of this massive amount of weight. For most mortals it's just not physically possible, but for powerlifter Ray Williams it's a piece of cake. As a matter of fact, Ray squatted 905 lbs. at the Alabama State USAPL Championships last month. At 6 feet, 361 pounds, this incredibly powerful man from the small town of Demopolis, Alabama smashed the American USAPL Squat record in only his second powerlifting meet. Check out the video below of his amazing squat.

In a recent interview, Williams admitted that his goal was to squat 1000lbs. in the near future. And after seeing him in action, few would argue it's within his reach. Here he is bangin' out 5 reps of 800lbs. without any fanfare. Just another training day at the gym for Ray Williams. No doubt the powerlifting community will be seeing much more of this man in the days to come.
