When you’ve just finished gutting through a tough lifting session, we don’t expect you to have the energy to put together an elaborate meal, or to wait forever for it to cook. You can make a mouth-watering dish before your sweat even dries by using just a Japanese sweet potato and your trusty jug of whey protein. Sweeter than a regular yam, the Japanese version takes on an icing-like texture when mixed with chocolate protein powder. Prepare it in advance and chill it in the fridge to enjoy when you get back from the gym, or make it fresh and serve it hot as a high-protein dessert.

Sweet Potato Icing Servings: 1
You'll need
  • 1 large Japanese sweet potato
  • 2 scoops chocolate whey protein powder

You may have thought they were the same, but yams and sweet potatoes aren’t created equal.

Directions
1. Place the sweet potato on a microwave-safe plate and poke a few holes in it with a fork.
2. Cover with wax paper.
3. Microwave for 5–7 minutes, or until the potato is soft all the way through.
4. Cut the potato open, scrape the insides into a bowl, and throw away the skin.
5. Pour the protein powder onto the potato flesh and mix it with a fork until smooth.
