The incline W raise is a prehabilitation exercise that increases range of motion and strength throughout the upper back and shoulder complex. This exercise particularly targets the side and rear regions of the shoulders.

Instructions

  1. 218_A
Lie chest-down on an incline bench with a 30-degree angle. Allow your arms to hang down, palms facing down with your elbows bent to 90-degrees.
  2. Incline W Raise
Keeping your elbows bent, raise your arms up and to the side of your body as you squeeze your shoulder blades together. Continue raising until upper arms are parallel to the ground. Pause, then slowly lower your arms back to the starting position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Make sure you squeeze your shoulder blades together when raising your elbows to the highest position.
  • Perform this movement slow, avoiding any excess momentum.
