It’s tough to stay motivated during the winter and discipline yourself to work out. Cold weather forces us to stay in, binge-watch our favorite TV shows, eat poorly, and sleep too much.

But now Spring is here, and it’s prime time to reset and rebuild. There’s no better way to dust off the cobwebs of an inactive winter than with a powerful playlist designed to help you reach your highest potential as you get active once again.

Music is one of the best motivators during any workout. During this season, when we desire to be outdoors and more mobile, it can fuel even more energy.

The right tunes can motivate you to work longer and harder, says David-Lee Priest, PhD, a psychologist and researcher at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. The singer’s emotion, the steady beat and up-tempo rhythm gets us feeling a song and drives our workout.

When listening to music during your workout you want to use upbeat, up-tempo songs. Priest says that fast music stimulates a part of our brain that improves energy efficiency, and can lead to increased work capacity.

This playlist taps into that idea, and these songs are not only faster in tempo, but emphasize positive emotions designed to get you feeling not only the music, but also the season.
