As the bodybuilding world flocked to Southern California for the 2008 Ironman Pro Invitational, the Venice Beach scene was buzzing with some not-so-regulars, as is usually the case when the Ironman comes around. Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler, Joel Stubbs, Branch Warren and Melvin Anthony (check the FLEX Blog for pictures) were just a few of the pros who made their way to the Mecca, along with some other familiar faces – and voices — including the Pro Bodybuilding Weekly radio crew. Bob Cicherillo, a Venice beach regular, was seen making the rounds with his PBW co-host and creator Dan Solomon.
“It’s always fun visiting Venice and stopping by Golds, said Solomon. “The place is still the Mecca and it’s a great spot to visit with the world’s most knowledgeable bodybuilding fans.” Later in the day, Dan & Bob were joined by new PBW teammate Larry Pepe for lunch at the Firehouse followed by a visit to Jay Cutler‘s Max Muscle store for a meeting with the champ and his business partner Dave Bourlet.
On Saturday night, the R&R came to an end as the PBW team was back at the mic as hosts of Bodybuilding.com’s worldwide webcast of the Ironman Pro. The crew was back at it on Monday night, welcoming Ironman Pro winner Phil Heath to the show as the Arnold Classic approaches.
