Muscle & Fitness executive editor Arnold Schwarzenegger did not mince his words recently when he felt compelled to join a Reddit discussion on the “Best Damn Cardio Humanly Possible in 15 Minutes.” Cleary disenchanted by the negative tone that the discussion was taking, the seven-time Mr. Olympia winner interjected with the following comments:

“Thanks for sharing this. Everybody, behave and stop bickering. This is about inspiring more people to get into fitness. I’ve never understood people who argue constantly about who is wrong and who is right in fitness, because the fact is, there are many ‘right’ answers, especially for people just starting out.

“Do you think Sergio Oliva and I did the same thing? No. In fact, you could walk into Gold’s and watch the 5 best guys and see 5 completely different routines. And you know what? We didn’t argue.

“Do me a favor. Try to focus more on expanding the fitness community as a whole than protecting your little corner of it.”

Arnold got some kudos from some other Reddit users for his contribution, and the former governor of California came back later in the thread to tell the community what his favorite cardio exercise was both back in his heyday as a bodybuilder and now as a man in his 60s:

“Thank you. And to thank everybody ahead of time for not fighting, my favorite form of cardio when we worked out at Gold’s was to run down to the beach and run in the sand after I finished lifting. Today, I don’t run, but I still ride my bike through Santa Monica and Venice. Or I do interval style training on a stationary bike.”

Good on you, Arnold, keeping the peace and educating fans at the same time!
