You may be surprised to learn that most Americans are pretty conservative when it comes to the number of people they’ve slept with. Get this: Women ages 25 to 44 have had a median of four male sexual partners, while men have had six female partners. Only 9% of women have been with 15 or more guys (22% of men claim to have had the same number of women).

3. How does she define sex?

What you consider sex, she might not—or visa versa. Almost 45% consider manual genital stimulation to be having sex, 71% say oral sex is the real deal, and 81% believe anal-genital intercourse counts.

If you think you’re the only one thinking about sex all day, you’re wrong. It turns out women think about sex 10 times a day, on average, which is actually not much more often than food or sleep. Who knew?

Believe it or not, you’re not the only thing that turns her on. She can get herself going just as easily, but the number of women who’ve turned themselves on in the past month varies by age.

18- to 19-year-olds: 26%

The average American gets busy 151 times a year. That comes out to 2.9 times a week, with one caveat—the younger you are, the more action you’re getting.

7. How often does she orgasm during sex?

Men believe they get their lady to hit the Big O nearly every time—85% to be exact. Only 64% of women actually achieved an orgasm during their most recent sexual event (not necessarily intercourse).

Mind-blowing sex doesn’t mean you have a to tear a few pages out of the Kama Sutra. In reality, 45% of women (and 27%  of men) prefer missionary, 13% like reverse missionary best, and 24% of men say they like it doggy-style.

9. How long does sex last?

Want it to last longer? Step up your foreplay game. Australian researchers compared how long different sexual practices lasted, and actual intercourse takes up less than a third of the entire experience.

Basic sexual encounter (involving mainly kissing, cuddling, stroking one’s partner and being stroked, and vaginal intercourse): 16 minutes

Vaginal intercourse (lower levels of kissing, cuddling, and stroking): 8.5 minutes

Basic sexual encounter plus oral sex: 26 minutes

Eighty-eight percent of Americans say you’ve got to mix it up once. The top ways we keep sex fresh?

13. Has she had sex outside?

The bedroom is not the most thrilling place to get it on, and number of couples are taking the deed outside. Thirty-two percent of Americans have had sex outdoors. Where else? One in three say they did it on a beach or at a friend’s house, and one in four married people did the deed at their in-laws’ house.

14. Has she tried anal sex?

Back door play ism’t as taboo at it used to be. In 2002, 35 percent of women between the ages of 25 and 44 said they’d tried anal sex. When asked in a 2010 survey, the percentage rose to 40 for women in their 30s and 40s, and for those 25 to 29, 46 percent said yes.

15. Does she set?

Anthony Weiner is not in great company when it comes to sending and receiving scandalous texts—23% of people have sent sets, 16% have sent a naughty photo or video, and 22% have engaged in phone sex.

16. How often does she want you to use condoms?

The older women get, the less likely they are to ask you to wear protection: Among 18- to 24-year-olds, women say they use condoms 39% of the time. That number drops to 24% among 25- to 34-year-olds and plummets to 18 among women 35 to 44.

17. Has she faked an orgasm?

Almost 60% of women have gone to great lengths to fake the Big O. The real shocker: Nearly one in five men say they have, too. Baby boomers are the least likely to fake an orgasm (32%) compared to Millennials and Gen Xers, who both clock in at 45%.

18. Is she hooking up?

More than half of people ages 18 to 24 say their most recent sexual partner was a casual or dating partner—not a serious lover. For those over the age of 24, the majority said their most recent hookup was a steady partner.

Sad to say that cheating is on the rise. In 2010, 14% of women reported being unfaithful at some point in their marriages. That’s a 3% increase since 1991.

20. What type of birth control does she use?

When it comes to contraception, the pill is the most popular form of pregnancy prevention, with 28% of women popping them daily. Tubal sterilization follows at 27%, and condoms account for 16% of pregnancy prevention.
