Explosive Pushup

The explosive pushup is an upper body exercise that increases power and strength in the chest, shoulders and triceps. This exercise also improves muscular endurance and core stabilization.

Instructions

    Assume a pushup position with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Your body should form a straight line from your ankles to your head. This is your starting position.
  2. Explosive Pushup
    Bend elbows and lower body until your chest nearly touches the floor.
  3. Instructions step placeholder
    Explosively press yourself up so that your hands leave the floor. Land with your arms extended and reset your body back to starting position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Do not let the elbows flare out. Keep the elbows close to your sides throughout.
  • Cushion the landing by slightly bending the elbows.
  • Keep your core tight and back flat throughout the movement.
