Standing Split Rotational Chop

The standing split rotational chop is a dynamic exercise that increases rotational core strength, emphasizing the obliques. The split stance position engages the lower back and hips.

Instructions

  1. 292_A
Stand in front of an adjustable cable machine in a staggered stance with one foot forward and your feet shoulder-width apart. With a double-overhand grip, grab the rope attachment from a chest-height setting.
  2. Standing Split Rotational Chop
Brace your core and rotate your torso to one side, bringing the rope down and across your body. Pause, then return the rope back to the starting position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Make sure you rotate your shoulders and torso as a single unit.
  • Do not use momentum to help overcome the resistance.
  • Keep your legs firmly planted on the ground.
