Klitschko, who tells “The Oak” that he has been a fan since he was a kid (see the tweet below), poses next to an iconic photo of Arnold in a similar stance.
Not to be outdone, Arnold, who is in Bulgaria shooting The Expendables 3 with a host of other action movie legends, took to Twitter and posted a shot of him channeling his inner Klitschko, who is the WBA Super, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight champion, in steely fight poster pose.
And, in an exclusive that you will only find here on Muscle & Fitness, we can reveal that after the Twitter exchange, the two got dinner together in Stanglwirt in Kitzbuhel, Austria, where Klitschko has his training camp. Arnold explained to M&F why he was so keen to send a photo tribute to the Ukrainian champion.
“I admire Klitschko a lot, and love watching all of his fights. He is a great champion. So when I saw him post that photo from one of my favorite places in Europe – the Stanglwirt, and I knew I would be there in a few days, I couldn’t wait to return the favor,” he said.
Klitschko is hard at work training for his October 5 fight against Alexander Povetkin, which will take place in Moscow. Povetkin holds a version of the WBA title and could provide a stern test for Klitschko, who is now trained by his former sparring partner Johnathon Banks after the death of his long-time trainer Emanuel Steward last year.
