LA’s only PGA Tour event, welcomed Academy Award®-winning actor Mark Wahlberg on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016 as he participated in the 2016 Pro-Am – a special dedicated day of the 2016 Northern Trust Open where groups of three amateur golfers are paired with a professional golfer for a round of 18, offering fans a chance to get up close and personal with pros in a more relaxed environment.
Wahlberg, a lefty swinger, took to the turf with his personal caddy and trainer Darren “Hammer” Davis. The two talked strategy, wind direction and other elements that affect a golfers overall play before Mark teed off, also impressing others with his major putting skills.
The tournament, which runs from Feb 15th-21st, is hosted at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, drawing more than 60,000 fans over the week. This year will see some of the game’s top golfers compete for the championship, including Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson and Jordan Spieth. And while the NTO is known for offering attendees unforgettable golfing moments, the Open has also become an event where local Angelenos can be sure to find great food, entertainment and family-friendly fun.
The 2016 tournament will take the Northern Trust Open’s mantra of #MoreThanGolf further than ever before, offering an array of events and experiences that guarantee that newcomers, hard-core golf fans and everyone in between can find something to get excited about. Tickets are on sale now.
