Baseball is back—and reigning American League MVP Mike Trout couldn’t be more excited.

The Los Angeles Angels outfielder has been hitting the gym hard this offseason—along with these 29 other MLB players crushing it in the gym—and he showed off one of his recent workouts on Instagram ahead of spring training.

It’s fair to say that Trout has a “spring” in his step for this season. Here’s Trout running with what we estimate is a 135-lb barbell (two 45-lb plates on a 45-lb bar) on his back:

And that’s not all Trout has been doing this winter.

Even though Trout won his second MVP award after having a stellar season with 29 home runs, 100 RBI, 123 runs scored, and a .315 batting average, the outfielder has been getting at it in in the gym and crushing his workouts:

Guess that’s why Trout can make crazy home-run robbing and diving catches that defy gravity.

Based on all this, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Trout brings home his third MVP award in 2017.
