Timeline: Dwayne The Rock Johnson

BORN – May 2, 1972, Hayward, CA

 

1991 – Wins national championship with the University of Miami Hurricanes football team during his freshman year.

 

1995 – Has a brief stint with the Calgary Stampeders of the CanadIan Football League, but is cut.

 

1996-1998 – Debuts as Rocky Maivia (a combination of his grandfather and father’s ring names) in the WWE. He begins to refer to himself as “the Rock.”

 

1999 – Becomes involved in the Make-a-wish Foundation, and in two years grants more wishes than any other participant.

 

 

2000 – Named Make-A-Wish’s Man of the Year. Hosts Saturday Night Live, which leads to offers from Hollywood studios.

 

2002 – Stars in The Scorpion King, his first leading role.

 

 

2006 – He and then-wife Dany Garcia donate $2 million to the University of Miami to name their alumni Center living room.

 

2010 – Lands his third Muscle & Fitness cover (March).

 

2013 – Stars in Pain & Gain alongside Mark Wahlberg, and lands his fourth M&F cover.
