The Winner: Philadelphia Fat-Free Cream Cheese
At first glance, this might seem like a no-brainer. After all, one of these products has zero fat. But it doesn’t win just because it’s fat free. In fact, we rarely recommend fat-free dairy products, primarily because some fat–even saturated fat–is good for your physique. Furthermore, many fat-free dairy products have added carbs. Such is not the case with fat-free cream cheese. They replace the fat with protein! There is twice as much protein in fat-free cream cheese as there is in the 1/3-less-fat version and even the whole-fat version, for that matter. So when you’re having a postworkout bagel, up the protein content by spreading on some fat-free cream cheese.
