Paige “12 Guage” VanZant returned to the octagon with a bang this past weekend. She defeated Bec Rawlings with a flashy switch roundhouse kick in the second round of the bout.

VanZant jumped and kicked low, which drew Rawlings’ attention to protect her lower body, then VanZant went high and landed strong on her jaw.
Earlier in the fight VanZant tried a similar maneuver, and missed, leading to Rawlings laughing at her seemingly outrageous move at the time. It was clear that Rawlings’ lack of taking VanZant seriously ultimately lead to her downfall.
VanZant hasn’t fought since last December, when she lost to Rose Namajunas. During this leave, VanZant was on Dancing with the Stars, where she came in second. With this victory, she is now 7-2. On the other hand, Rawlings, now 7-5, had her two-match winning streak come to an abrupt end.
