Straight-Arm Pulldown

The straight-arm pulldown is an isolation exercise that builds size and strength, focusing on the upper back and lat muscles. Difficulty is increased slightly by keeping the arms straight during the movement.

Instructions

    Stand at an adjustable cable machine and grab the lat pulldown bar with an overhand grip that's about shoulder-width apart. Keep your knees slightly bent and feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Straight-Arm Pulldown
    Exhale and pull the bar down to your thighs. Your arms should remain straight, elbows locked. Pause, then return to the starting position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Avoid rounding your shoulders. Instead, keep your chest up, shoulders back and core tight.
