Read articleJacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette keeps proving why he was a top-five pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
After impressing Jaguars coaches during training camp over the summer to win the starting job, Fournette had a breakout—and record-setting—game in Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Fournette rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries, including a record-setting 90-yard score in the second half. Fournette became the youngest player in NFL history to score on a run of 90 yards or longer.

The 6’0”, 228-lb rookie has a bruising running style, and so far it’s been working pretty well at the pro level. In an interview, Fournette said that the transition from college to the NFL has been “the same thing for me, physically” and that he uses exercises like shoulder shrugs, dumbbell press workouts, pushups, and kettlebell exercises to stay in shape.
Back at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, some scouts were worried about Fournette’s draft stock after he weighed in at 240lbs. But he later quieted those critics when he debuted a lean, sculpted physique at his LSU pro day with a 228-lb frame.
Through five games Fournette has put up 466 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Now, with his jersey heading to Canton, he has his sights set on the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
