For most people, when a flying baseball bat is rocketing towards their heads, the first instinct is to jump down and avoid it at any and all costs.

Not for New York Mets prospect Luis Guillorme.

The shortstop was minding his own business, leaning on the railing of the dugout during the Mets’ spring training game Thursday against the Miami Marlins, when all hell broke loose.

Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarría took a hard swing at a pitch from Robert Gsellman and lost control of his bat, sending it right at the dugout—and directly at Guillorme.

Did Guillorme panic? Did he run away? Did he duck? Not quite—although a number of his teammates did:

After watching the play, it’s no surprise that Guillorme’s scouting report for the Mets says that he has the “the fastest hands” in the minor league system.

Guillorme was very relaxed when talking about the play after the game: “Usually when stuff like that happens, I really don’t get out of the way,” he said to MLB.com. “I saw it the whole way. I threw my hand at it. The bat just happened to land on it.”

During the 2016 season, Guillorme played in a career-high 123 games for the St. Lucie Mets in the Florida State League. With his newfound celebrity, he could make a push up to the next level for the Mets.

Either way, the scouting report isn’t quite a secret anymore: Everyone knows Guillorme has some incredible natural reflexes.
