10TV News is reporting that some 18,000 athletes and 175,000 fans will flock to Columbus, Ohio this weekend to attend the Arnold Classic, bringing welcome revenue to the area.

“Right now the Arnold Classic weighs in at $42 million in visitor spending for that one weekend, which is an enormous sum of money for the community,” says Executive Director of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission Linda Logan. The report goes on to detail how local hotels, restaurants and gyms take on extra hands to meet all of the added demand for accommodation and services that go with hosting the event.

It already looks like there is a great atmosphere building ahead of the event, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this weekend.
