Six months ago, Sonia Gonzales decided on a career change. The change? Stepping on stage as an IFBB Pro bikini competitor instead of an IFBB Pro figure competitor. Two contests into the 2010 season, the decision is paying off.
On Saturday night, Gonzales captured the 2010 Muscle Contest Pro Bikini Championships in Culver City, California for her second win in as many weeks. The contest was the second-ever IFBB bikini competition. A week ago, Gonzales won the inaugural professional bikini contest in New Zealand.
During her five-year pro figure career, Gonzales won two contests (2007 Pittsburgh Pro, 2007 California Pro) and placed in the top three of the Olympia and Figure International a combined three times.
Monique Minton and Amanda Latona placed second and third, respectively to qualify for the 2010 Bikini Olympia. Stacey Oster-Thompson (fourth) and Natalie Pennington (fifth) rounded out the top five.
