Your sex life is calling, and it’s telling you to buy some damn plane tickets.

According to a new Nielsen survey, 80% of people who go away on vacation at least once a year report that “romance is alive in their relationship,” compared with 56% of those who never take a vacation.

“The term ‘vacation sex’ is a real phenomenon, especially for men,” says Leigh Vinocur, M.D., of Diamond Resorts International, which commissioned the study. “Many men have performance issues while worrying about work and financial pressures. And it’s not all in their heads: Chronic stress and higher cortisol levels are associated with lower testosterone, which contributes to loss of libido, loss of energy, and feelings of depression.”

But taking time off, she says, “translates to better sex”—and turns into a gift that keeps on giving all year long.

The survey, of 2,000-plus adults age 25 and older earning at least $35K a year, also found that, even though most subjects said their bosses encouraged vacation time, more than half left 7.2 days unused every year—a whole wasted week!

So put “GET PASSPORT RENEWED” at the top of your to-do list, and light a fire under your relationship.
