Is static stretching still worth doing, or is it useless? —KEITH D., GREENWICH, CT

I like it, but only at the end of a workout. Don’t do it before a workout or a competition. That’s when you should stick with dynamic stretching and CNS priming—since you don’t want the muscle to be lengthened. But on a recovery day or after a workout, it’s great for you.
