Hugh Jackman has been hard at work with his pack of mates at the dog pound, and the man from Oz is not playing around in the gym. Jackman, who is currently on Broadway starring in Jez Butterworth’s The River, was in monster form. The Wolverine star posted the clip below of him deadlifting 435 pounds.

In the first rep we see Hugh getting a little help from his friend to straighten the bar. At the top of the first rep the exertion is evident, as are the two instructions he barks to his training colleagues. The first was “Keep Filming!” and the second and more pronounced request was “DON’T TOUCH IT.”

It looks like his advice was heeded, as the 46-year-old goes on to complete the second rep unaided. We know that Hugh loves his deadlifts, but the weight has been increasing over the past few months (remember his 396.8 pounds lift a while back when he was in Blackbeard mode). We are now up to 435, and the caption Jackman wrote with the video reads: “Getting closer to my PB. 435 DON’T TOUCH IT!!” We’ll keep you posted as soon as we see Hugh’s next big weight effort. In the meantime, check out the clip.

Getting closer to my PB. 435 DON'T TOUCH IT!!

Oh, ever wonder what Jackman looked like in the mid-80s? Last week, he posted this photo from that time with three of his mates with this caption: “#TBT #TBTWayBack. Now you know why they called me sticks!!! Clint Newcombe, @GusWorland, Ian Drew, Me. Circa 1985.” A lot of iron has been lifted since those days! Can you pick him out?
