Day one of the Toronto Pro Supershow is a wrap and what a day it was. Nearly 100 IFBB Professionals from six division took the stage at the beautiful Metro Toronto Convention Center and John Basset Theater. The events kicked off Friday afternoon with the pre-judging for figure, fitness, bikini, and women’s bodybuilding. That same evening, the men took the stage for their pre-judging along with the finals for fitness, bikini, and women’s bodybuilding.
The men’s competition looks like a two man battle between Craig Richardson’s razor sharp cuts and Lionel Beyeke size and beautiful lines. Only a few weeks ago at the NY Pro, Richardson took third to Beyeke’s fourth. If Beyeke can tighten up overnight, he might overturn the outcome he faced in NY.
Rounding out the first call-out and in the mix for the top 5 are Brandon Curry, Robert Piotrkowicz, and Frank McGrath. Curry looks to be leading for third, but it’s too close to tell.
In the fitness division, Canadian Jodi Boam grabbed her first pro win in only her second pro contest! A tight physique and dynamic routine were enough to edge out a field of 14 ladies. Myriam Capes finished in the runner up spot and Mindi O’Brien grabbed third, making it a Canadian sweep. All three ladies are now qualified for the Fitness Olympia in September.
In bikini, the little cutee from Texas, Shelsea Montes, took home her second pro victory. She edged out Missy Coles and Justine Munroe, who both brought their best physiques to date. All three ladies were already qualified for the Olympia, so that means fourth place finisher Nina Luchka.
The final awards of the night went to the women bodybuilders, where Brigita Brezovac came out on top of a field of ten ladies. The diced Brezovac is becoming a force in the IFBB with her third win in two years. Nicole Ball came in second, with added size and her best ever condition. In a close battle for third, Mah Ann Mendoza edged out Cathy LeFrancois.
The men’s finals are tonight along with figure and 202. Check out FLEXonline for reports, galleries, interviews, and the video wrap-up!
