Josh Brolin isn’t messing around with his training for Deadpool 2.

The actor is set to play Cable in the highly-anticipated sequel to Deadpool alongside Ryan Reynolds, and he’s wasted no time getting in the gym to train. Brolin is already playing the supervillain Thanos in the mega-superhero film Avengers: Infinity War, and now he’ll get the chance to be on the heroic side of things.

Production on the sequel is expected to start in June, and Brolin’s arms sure are ready:

Brolin’s been bulking up with “clean” eating and by cutting out bread, pasta, and sugar from his diet. So far, it seems to be working out well.

The actor bumped into former NFL player Heath Evans—who knows a thing or two about getting jacked—in the gym and showed off the fruits of his labor with a flex of his massive arms:

Cable is one of the most popular and badass characters in the Marvel stable.

In the comics, Cable is a time-traveling, totally jacked warrior with a bionic arm and a massive gun. The pairing of Cable and Deadpool—as well as Cable’s leadership of the X-Force team–has produced some of Marvel’s best comic moments through the years, and now they’ll get the big-screen treatment.

Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch and starring Reynolds, Brolin, T.J Miller, and Zazie Beetz, is set for a June 1, 2018 release.
