On Episode 290 of The Menace Podcast, host Dennis “The Menace” James was joined by regular panelists Milos Sarcev and Jose Raymond, and the gang discussed Nick Walker’s chances of winning the 2026 IFBB Tampa Pro against popular contenders like Joe Palacios.
The Tampa Pro will take place between July 30 and August 1, 2026, and is a proving ground where the winner in the Open division will receive qualification for this year’s Mr. Olympia final in Las Vegas. One man who is always considered to be an easy pick is Nick Walker, but he’ll face stiff competition in Florida. That’s because last year’s Tampa Pro finalist, Joe Palacios, who came in third, does not intend to lose this year. So, who will come out on top? Dennis James pointed out that despite Palacios’ recent progress, Walker is still the odds-on favorite to win this year. But Milos Sarcev countered that it won’t be a “walk in the park.”
Milos Sarcev feels that Nick Walker is the “most popular bodybuilder in the world right now,” because he wasn’t necessarily gifted with the best natural genetics, making him highly relatable. The man they call “The Mutant” has pushed himself to be the one of the best bodybuilders on the planet, regardless of his physical challenges, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps.
“But isn’t Joe the perfect competition for Nick?” asked James. Sarcev responded that Walker’s pre-match approach, which has seen him appear dismissive of his competition, could wind up being a big mistake. The host agreed, pointing out that underestimating the competition, and then losing, could make Walker look bad in the long run. James also said that being too cocky could lead to audiences rooting for the underdog ahead of the final in Tampa. “It’s definitely going to be a fun show to watch,” suggested Jose Raymond. “Two of the freakiest guys in bodybuilding.” The Tampa Pro could certainly be a closer fought fight than Walker would like to believe. “They compare pretty well,” said James of what could be an enthralling battle.
