QUESTION:

How do you manage your time with a demanding job, business, and training? ~ Josh D.

 ANSWER

How to manage it all is definitely something I’ve had to learn how to do over time. As my wife Amanda always says, we are in control of our schedule – so I have to try to not overload myself, which I tend to do. Time management and using a food prep company (like my sponor, Icon Meals) helps us so much with being able to balance frequent travel and our busy day-to-day lives.

 QUESTION:

How can I get rid of stubborn lower-back fat? ~ Skander O.

 ANSWER

The simple answer is "diet". For me, as well as for most men, that is one of the toughest areas to get rid of fat. It always seems to be the last place that it goes away. I've found that if I can keep my cortisol levels down, have a good sleep schedule, and take supplements like yohimbine HCL, it helps keep those subborn areas of fat at bay.

 QUESTION:

What is the best workout routine for a hard gainer to gain mass? ~ Bibhuti B.

 ANSWER

The KING-SIZED workout routine! If you don’t gain mass from that program, then it’s not your workout routine that is preventing you gaining mass. You have to look into you diet and life style habits as well.

 QUESTION:

If you have a lagging body part, is it ok to stop training everything else to focus solely on bringing up that one muscle group? ~ Mark John C.

 ANSWER

The simple answer is "NO". If you have a very strong, dominant body part, as well as a glaring, lagging body part, I would continue to train everything, but take some time and energy away from the dominant bodypart and put it toward the lagging bodypart instead.

 QUESTION:

Do you still do deadlifts off of the floor? ~ Christopher L.

 ANSWER

Yes, I still do deadlifts off the floor – but I do it with the purpose of building my back, not just move the weight and go to heavy. I will do 405 for reps, or finish a workout with 315 for a few sets. Being sure to keep strict form with deadlifts is the key for me.

 QUESTION:

Does whey protein lead to skin problems like back acne? ~ Shaik I.

 ANSWER

I haven’t had any personal issues with whey protein causing acne. I find when my diet is on point, like whem I'm getting ready for a competition, that my skin is clearer. When I eat more junk food in my off-season, I find my skin to be a little more oily and tend I to have more breakouts. Unless you have a sensitivity to whey, I think you should be fine using it – just make sure that you are using a pure, high-quality whey isolate like ISOFLEX from Allmax.

 QUESTION:

Why do you use triple drop sets instead of regular drop sets or super sets? ~ Sam D.

 ANSWER

Triple drop sets are just a way of taking things to another level of pain, pump, and growth. Like the old saying says, “No Pain, No Gain!” Well that statement kind of holds true in bodybuilding. You don’t want a bad pain like a muscle tear of course, but you do want that burn and pumped feeling, which can be painful if executed properly. Triple drop sets definitely deliver that.

 QUESTION:

Do you use power partials all year round or only in the off season? ~ Jim C.

 ANSWER

I use power partials year-round, including pre-contest . The only time I may not use power partials, is in the last few weeks of my prep when my energy levels are tanked and I'm not feeling as strong. During that time, I'm not trying to set any records and I may even back down the weight just slightly to avoid any injuries from exreme muscle fatigue.

 QUESTION:

Can I do the King-Sized workout with a cutting diet or should I only do it when I’m trying to add size? ~ Daniel B.

 ANSWER

The KING-SIZED workout will work pre-contest and off-season. It's what I used this year to prep for my last two shows, and it defnitely helped to bring a new level of size and dimension to my muscles.

 QUESTION:

If I want to take 2 rest days per week, which body parts should I group together so that I hit every one at least 1 time per week? ~ Aron M.

 ANSWER

You can combine hams, glutes, and quads into one workout, just be careful not to neglect your hamstrings and glutes if you're not dedicating an entire workout to them. They are very important. Following the KING-SIZED program, but combinging hams, glutes, and quads into one workout, will give you the two rest days you're looking for.
