Dobrev was joined by oceanographer and shark conservationist Ocean Ramsey.

Dobrev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, as Nikolina Konstantinova Dobreva, according to IMDB.

Dobrev is best known for her role as Elena Gilbert on the CW’s supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries.

She moved to Canada at the age of two, where she was raised in Toronto, Ontario, per IMDB.

Dobrev held her breath for 2 minutes and 15 seconds after her first diving lesson, she said on Instagram.

She joined Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage.

Along with sharks, Dobrev is working to helping conservation efforts for sea turtles, she posted on Instagram.

Dobrev and Ramsey spent a few days in Bimini, in an effort to shed more light on the plight of endangered sea creatures.

“You don’t get results by laying out in the sun,” Dobrev said in a recent Instagram. “You gotta work hard to play hard.”
