The dumbbell V raise is an isolation exercise that strengthens the entire shoulder with an emphasis on the sides of the deltoid muscles.
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hands holding a pair of light dumbbells at your sides, palms facing your upper thighs.
Raise the dumbbells in front of your chest to form a wide "V" with your body. Squeeze your shoulder blades together and hold for a one count at the top. Slowly lower the dumbbells to the start position.
Avoid using momentum to move through the exercise. Focus on moving in a slow and controlled fashion with each rep.
