Top pros and amateurs flock to the City of Angels for The Cal this weekend

It’s not like Los Angeles is hurting for well-tanned hardbodies or anything, but this weekend, it’s going to be a magnet for them.
The 2009 IFBB California State Pro Figure Championship – affectionately known as “The Cal” – will take place this weekend in Culver City. Last year, it was Felicia Romero who walked away with the top prize – Romero appears on the cover of this month’s issue of FLEX Magazine – but with the champ sitting this one out, first place is up for grabs. Kristi Tauti, last year’s third place finisher, would seem to be a favorite but she’ll be challenged by Figure O veterans Sonia (Adcock) Gonzales and Jane Awad for top billing.
The show will be held in conjunction with the 2009 NPC California State Bodybuilding, Figure, Fitness & Bikini Championship, with over 155 competitors slated to compete in the national qualifier.
