When Fred Smalls’ placed 5th at the 2007 North Americans, his second NPC National level show, it was behind a first place and overall winner Erik Fankhouser. The two, who possess very different structures, will be dueling it out again this Saturday in Chicago.

Since Fred won his Pro card as a HW at the very stacked 2010 Nationals (Branden Ray and Robert Burneika were other class winners), placing just ahead of Juan Morel, he has had success in a short amount of time.

Like Erik, he jumped right into competing at the Pro ranks, placing 5th in his 2011 Pro debut, the Europa Hartford, and then stepping up one place to 4th  in that same show in 2012.

By the way, did you ever wonder how Fred came up with those inventive and entertaining posing routines? He minored in Dance at Salisbury State University! Let’s see what he has in store for us Saturday night.
