At age 39 and after a year away from stages, Slovakia’s Jaroslav Horvath had his best pro season in 2010, placing second to Dave Henry at the Jacksonville Pro 202, second to Seth Feroce at the Europa Supershow 202 and making he posedown at the Olympia 202 Showdown, where he finished sixth. Noted for his balanced development, Horvath’s pecs are full from top to bottom and side to side.

HORVATH ON CHEST BASICS

“I feel that free weights are best for chest. My gym has all the latest machines, but I don’t use them. Barbells and dumbbells built my chest. The only time I add machines is pre-contest. For the final 16 weeks before a show, I add three sets of 10-12 reps of either pec-deck flyes or cable crossovers to every chest workout.”

HORVATH’S CHEST ROUTINE

EXERCISE SETS REPS
Dumbbell bench presses 4 6-10
Incline barbell presses 4 8-10
