Brandon Marshall reportedly told press that he has heard rumors that some players in the NFL take Viagra to play better on any given Sunday.
Marshall was fielding some questions from the press about the possible use of Adderall in the sport when he segued into this tangent about the drug used to combat erectile dysfunction.
"I don't know too much about Adderall," said Marshall, according to USA Today. "I know guys, it is such a competitive league, guys try anything just to get that edge. I'm fortunate enough to be blessed with size and some smarts to give me my edge.
"But some guys, they'll do whatever they can to get an edge. I've heard of some crazy stories. I've heard (of) guys using like Viagra, seriously. Because the blood is supposedly thin, some crazy stuff. So, you know, it's kind of scary with some of these chemicals that are in some of these things so you have to be careful."
Marshall went on to say that he takes no medication of any kind, but that all players have to take care with the strict policy enforced by the league.
"Anytime you take anything over the counter, if you don't approve it with your training room, you can get popped that quick. It doesn't matter if it's DayQuil, NyQuil, any type of cough medicine. Even Halls," he added, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
"It's a really strict program that the NFL has. Some of it is fair, but it kind of puts you in a tough spot as a professional athlete. The only thing you'll see is getting busted for PEDs, but it could be something over the counter for a little sickness. You just have to be on top of your P's and Q's."
