Arnold Schwarzenegger announced today that he has officially joined the Weider staff as executive editor of Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines. Schwarzenegger personally made the announcement at the Arnold Classic Sports Festival expo in front of a large group of fans and industry professionals.

The legendary athlete and film star first appeared in Muscle & Fitness 45 years ago, and was a previous editor of both magazines before he took office as the governor of California. Ready and able to devote his attention back to bodybuilding and athletics, Schwarzenegger, who was introduced by Muscle & Fitness Editor in Chief, Shawn Perine in this video, will be guiding the editorial content and digital direction of both magazines brands beginning with the May 2013 issues.

Arnold said he was eager and excited to help promote sports and athletics to a wider audience and hopes his participation with the Weider brand can help spread his enthusiasm for the industry.

“Not everyone wants to be Mr. Olympia, but everyone wants to be strong and fit and fast,” said Schwarzenegger. “And the material in these magazines will help you reach your ultimate goal.”
