Between John Wick: Chapter 2, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Atomic Blonde, and now American Assassin, Hollywood seems to have a love affair with covert killers lately.
Not that we’re complaining.
American Assassin stars Dylan O’Brien as Mitch Rapp, a once-average dude who becomes determined to fight back after his girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack. Trained by ex-Cold War agent Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton), Rapp excels in his training. But when a figure from Hurley’s past comes back to haunt him, Rapp finds himself the last line of defense against a nuclear weapon potentially causing a new global war with the Middle East.
O’Brien made a name for himself as the leading man of the young-adult-centric Maze Runner films, and Assassin seems poised to make him the next breakout action star.

American Assassin releases nationwide on Sept. 15, 2017.
