Plie Squat

The plie squat is a lower body strength exercise that targets the quads, hamstrings, and glutes. The dumbbell positioning of this exercise allows for beginners to progressively adapt to squats with resistance.


  1. 846_A
    Stand with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart, arms at your sides, and point your toes out at an angle.
  2. Plie Squat
    Squat down, bending your knees until your thighs are parallel with the ground. As you lower your body, raise your arms above your head. Pause, then straighten your legs and return your arms to your sides.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Don't let your lower back round.
  • Your torso should stay as upright as possible.
  • Keep your weight on your heels.
