Standing Barbell Calf Raise on Floor

The standing barbell calf raise develops size and strength in the lower leg. Use of a weighted barbell creates increased resistance, resulting in targeted development of the calf muscles.

    Stand with feet about shoulder-width apart. Place a barbell across your upper back, pulling the bar down with an overhand grip while squeezing your shoulder blades together for stability.
  2. Standing Barbell Calf Raise on Floor
    Press onto the balls of your feet, lifting your heels off floor. Pause, lower heels back down to start position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Be sure to squeeze the calves at the peak extension of the movement.
